Our method

Every tool carries a 0–5 editorial score. That score is our own editorial judgement — not a user rating and not an average of separate measured dimensions. Features and prices come from the vendor's own pages, and we date them whenever we can; where we could not verify something we say so plainly instead of filling in a plausible-looking number. We only write that we tried a tool ourselves when we have a record of the task, the date and the product version — so that sentence always points to something checkable.

What we do

• Give each tool one editorial score, with the reasoning behind it
• Check pricing and features against vendor pages and date the check
• Say who a tool is not for, not just what it does well
• Offer the alternatives that fit the same job, and how they differ
