OpenAI says Astra is the first model to meet the Critical cybersecurity threshold in its Preparedness Framework: with the right tools and access it can find unknown flaws and develop exploits without step-by-step human guidance. The company still plans to release it soon, but advanced cyber capabilities start with a small tester set, then expand for defensive use via Daybreak Blue. Extra safeguards were added before launch.
