Our review

Stable Diffusion is the cornerstone of open-source image generation — self-hostable, completely free, with an unmatched ecosystem of plugins and workflows.

It also has the highest barrier: you need a capable GPU and must tune and assemble pipelines yourself; but if you want full control, batch output or custom pipelines, it's almost the only choice.
