Our review
NotebookLM is Google's AI research notebook — now branded Gemini Notebook after Google's 2026 consolidation, with the old notebooklm.google.com address redirecting to notebook.google. It answers only from the sources you upload, keeps citations you can trace back to the underlying document, and its signature audio overview can turn a stack of material into a podcast-style briefing.
It depends on your uploads, the free tier is capped, and the Chinese audio is average; but if you want research that sticks strictly to the material you provided and still shows its sources, NotebookLM's trustworthiness stands out in this category.
