Our review

MiniMax is one of China's leading model labs. Its flagship M3 (May 2026) stands out for top-tier coding, a 1M-token context window and multimodality, while the earlier M2.7 targets agentic workflows and office tasks - the company says it can autonomously handle a sizable share of RL research workflows. Beyond language, MiniMax also ships Hailuo (video generation) plus speech and music models, making it one of the broadest Chinese model families.

Consumer entry points are scattered (web, API and Hailuo are separate) and the docs skew developer-first. But if you need a long-context coding model or multimodal APIs, MiniMax's value and coverage deserve a serious look.
